First time here since it opened. I live in Prior Lake, so have passed by it plenty of times. I wouldn't say it's always busy but there does seem to be a steady stream of customers that like this place. Today, we stopped in for breakfast. The Mocha was good but a little tepid. The Mexi Hash was very tasty. While the chorizo seemed a little "hard" like salami, it had a ton of flavor. The Chili Verde sauce on the eggs was just right. The Stuffed French Toast wasn't so much "stuffed" as it was sandwiched, but the cinnamon - pecan middle was perfect - not too sweet and not too much. Also, seems small but a nice touch - I ordered an orange juice and they brought a cold bottle of Odwalla. Not a big deal but what we nice was that they also brought a chilled glass to pour it in to! I liked that! Given that they also serve beer here, it much of a stretch to do and it's nice they offer it. Overall, not bad. We'd probably come back again because it's nice, local, and not crazy busy. The menu items are limited, so check before you go. The staff is very nice, friendly, and not intrusive. Prompt and courteous, it's nice to come to a place where they don't make you feel rushed. They have lunch and dinner here, too - so that will be the next trip back!

With delicious daily specials and this best soup I've ever tasted, Artisan is my favorite place to eat lunch. Their menu has unique and scrumptious choices, my favorites are the sweet potato flatbread and the veggie panini. And don't forget dessert!! The Monster cookies are amazing and they also offer seasonal desserts like lemon bars or pumpkin cake. Their Peanut Butter Pie is like tasting perfection and I don't even LIKE PEANUT BUTTER!

This place is a hidden gem. They make fantastic chef prepared breakfasts, gourmet coffee, and amazing dinners as well. On the weekends they have live music, usually acoustic and vocals. Very cool.

Saw that this place hah good reviews so the wife and I decided to give it a try. The good. Food seemed fresh Nice atmosphere The menu had good variety The bad. Terrible service from our server Food took over 30 minutes Ordered a beer that never showed up Had to walk up to the bar to get water refills Had to ask another server for our check. All and all I would maybe try this place again. However with TJ Hooligans next door I would just a soon give my business to a place that really offers a great menu and really great service.

I dropped by with my girlfriend. I had the Coffee Burger with a side of fries. She had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with a cup of soup. I was a bit worried about the coffee crusted hamburger, but omg it was frick'n amazing. The bread, the cheese and toppings blended together perfectly. Who would have though a coffee burger could taste so good. My girlfriend loved the Cajun chicken bursting with Guacamole and other yummy toppings. I couldn't believe she ate the whole thing and then polished off pretty hearty tomato soup. We both didn't leave a scrap and will definitely be back ;)

My wife and I were bored and wanted to take a little drive to get lunch. After deciding on a direction, we found this little place in Prior Lake. It's quaint, and has a varied and interesting menu. Food came quickly, staff and owner are very nice and genuinely interested in your experience. Who cares though, right? How was the food? Unexpectedly amazing. My wife had the Portabella Sandwich. She loved it. Me? If there's a hot dog on the menu, I order it. There was and I did; The Carne Dog. Holy awesomeness. Not smothered with pot roast, but just the perfect amount for it to add to the quality dog and not end up on your shirt. Mmm. The owner suggested we finish off lunch with his wife's Peanut Butter pie. He talked us into it and it was heavenly. I'm not going to explain it, you just need to try it. If you're looking to take a little drive down Hwy 13, stop here. It's worth it. (Live Jazz on Sat. nights :)

The food was wonderful, the chocolate cake divine, but the best thing is the way the staff treated us. I have the most adorable story. Our two families - three adults and three boys-- went to Artisan in between lacrosse games during a tournament. After we left two of the boys needed their water bottles filled so they went back in to get them filled. The server (I wish I knew her name!) filled them and said that the "payment" was that each boy had to get a goal. Those boys worked their tails off to "pay" for their water. They said they felt like someone was cheering just for them. They both got their goals and I called the restaurant to let them know. I'll never forget this story.

Today, my husband and I came here after hearing/reading positive reviews. We were excited to (hopefully) have a new local go-to place with quality ingredients and a good variety. Unfortunately, the service was so disappointing it has strongly tainted our impression of this place. We enjoyed the food (ordered sweet potato flatboats and spicy chicken wrap which came with homemade chips and salsa), ambience, etc.; but our server (Cierra) was the worst we've had anywhere in a long time. At first, she was decently attentive and got our drinks and order. However, after almost a half hour, we were starting to wonder where our food was. It seems possible it had been ready, just not delivered promptly (it was not warm), as someone else delivered it to us. Our server did not check to see how the food was, and when we eventually flagged her down to order a beer, we never saw her again! Never got the beer, our waters filled, of our plates cleared. We had to go up to the bar to get our own refills and the check. We would probably go back to try more food and cocktails, but extremely wary now!

Stopped in for dinner on our way home from New Prague. Because the Yelp reviews rated this place so high we thought we would give it a try... And we were not disappointed. We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp... Sticky to eat but very good. Perfect for two to share. My husband had of the Java burger and I had the Skippy... Both were pretty good. We asked our waitress for recommendations on dessert... She suggested an apple and cheese cake layer cake... Drenched in caramel... It was fantastic. I had the oatmeal cookie martini to drink... It was like having dessert throughout my meal... Yum!

Wowza. Had family in from out of town and needed a breakfast place in or near PL. I've apparently had Artisan Bistro bookmarked for a while now so I suggested we check it out. Best decision of the day. We were greeted and seated quickly on this slow Monday morning. Not sure if she was the owner or what but our server was ridiculously awesome. We had a gluten free person in our party and our server was extremely knowledgeable of each ingredient and really accommodating and patient. Refreshing! Everything is made from scratch at this place so expect it to take a short while. The wait for our food was slightly longer than you'd like but it was worth it. We all opted for breakfast items. The flavor of the day pancakes were pumpkin with peach on top, candied pecans and some delicious syrup. These were heaven. We also tried the 2-potato hash and a breakfast burrito. Our whole table was silent as we devoured everything in sight. Our guests from out of town were extremely happy with the food and the service. They also appreciated the nice decor. Overall this is a great little strip-mall joint that needs to become regular in my schedule. I wish I would have tried this sooner. We WILL be back!!

Let me say this - I have not been here since it opened. When we first went, it was cramped, had small cushioned furniture where you were expected to almost eat in your lap so you can imagine when a friend told me to have breakfast there, I was a little confused. The first time I was in, I ordered a latte and the confusion that was created the "I will never come here again monster that I tend to become when I have bad service, even once. Fast forward to this morning. Totally different place! They have the location next door now so it is completely opened up with a bar marrying both halves, one side of the restaurant has the sun on the ceiling and the other has the moon and twinkling stars that were visible during the day. Very artsy, Uptown like (If you are from the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area that will make sense to you - not in a NY "Uptown" kind of way) The menu had such variety, the waitress educated on what they offer and thank the LORD they have "gluten free" options. I did break down and have the chips and salsa because the waitress went on and on about them as they are made in house. They were pretty delicious but, the chips reminded me of the fried wontons you would get in a Chinese restaurant - if you like those - you will like these. Just do not want to mislead you. I had the Florentine Panini (no Panini - GF bread instead) hubby and daughter went traditional and loved the hash browns. I hear the pumpkin pancakes are to die for - today they came with glazed pear slices or something insane like that - we decided to go light this morning. This will be our new breakfast spot for sure! Now, we will have to try lunch and dinner

We ordered two burgers, onion rings and fries at 7:05 pm , we still haven't eaten. I have a new found respect for people who work at mcdonalds. Go somewhere else if you want a burger in the first 30 minutes

Sunday morning breakfast and not many people inside, to me that's a sign because good food draws a crowd. This place is ok at best, if your looking for a normal breakfast this place is not for you. $9 pumpkin pancakes were total mush, good flavor but you can eat with a straw. Server not around.... Everyone talks about the burrito but when asking about the make your own, server said I can add items for the other burrito to make my own... Then wouldn't I just order one off the menu? It's breakfast, it shouldn't be a confusing mix of random food placed around a egg. The reason so many dive place are so good is that they don't mess with breakfast, it's breakfast not an experience. Plus no kids menu, if there was one our server never mentioned it. I'd say not kid friendly.

Great food. Had the Steak and Eggs special from the Mother's Day menu. To die for. Steak cooked to perfection. My wife had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and were delicious too. The service? Fantastic. Our food was delivered promptly and they were able to accommodate a couple off requests for us. We will definitely go back and have Artisan Bistro part of our regular places to go to.

My favorite restaurant south of the river! Nothing here is bad. Try the Chai tea. Its made from a homemade spice mix and sweetened with sweetened condensed milk. Yummy! My favorite meals...spicy chicken sandwich, fish tacos, tomato soup, burger with coffee and Bbq sauce. Great place for a comfy meal. For a larger party and more privacy, reserve the back room.

The bacon and tenderloin bites are awesome if you're in the mood for a burger try the Skippy its unbelievable. If they had a sixth star I would give it to them.

Decor is warm and and comfortable. Food was delicious with plenty of low carb options. Had an amazing Bacon Frittata. Got my protein, veggies, and healthy fats. This place is the best kept secret in town for those that live south of the river - Savage, Prior Lake, Shakopee, Burnsville, and even for those folks in Jordan.

we went to dinner there the food was horrible, service was ok, far too high priced . a steak for nearly 30 $ that had a lesser quality then a 12$ one at apple bees

We've visited Artisan on many occasions. The food is great, minus the steak sandwich (for $15 it was a tiny amount of steak & mostly bread). Wait time for food is usually a bit long, especially if you have kids in tow. All waitresses but one have been pretty prompt & attentive- one we've had to ask for things multiple times & she starts taking food off of the table before we are finished. Nice atmosphere, art & music. Only complaint would be the steep prices for lunch sized portions.

Keeping in mind this in the far outer ring suburb of Prior lake, I have to say, I dig this place. I've stopped here a couple times now for some breakfast and coffee before heading off to a brew sesh with buddies in Jordan. It's tucked into a strip mall right next to a liquor store but when you walk in you forget that. The nature colors are very calming to the eye and the drop ceiling panels are painted with their sun emblem for a pretty cool touch. Eating paleo/primal isn't incredibly easy with this menu, lots of wheat and potatoes but I did find the two potato hash with which I asked them to go heavy on the sweet potatoes and light on the normal potatoes and they obliged. I was happy about that and it made for a tasty breakfast. Nothing incredible but very good still. That's been my go to whenever I stop by. The coffee. It's roasted by Highland Hollow Coffee and Tea Company in Elmwood, WI. The unfortunate thing is it's drip coffee and it's pretty watery. Not my kind of coffee and really, if "artisan coffee" is in your name you should really do better. The staff doesn't seem to know much about the coffee either. Definitely no baristas here, just high school help. There was one older guy (a worker) sitting at the counter and when I asked very politely if either him or the young girl taking my order could describe the medium roast he answered by saying, "it's coffee" to which again, was surprising since I was at the "Artisan Coffee Bistro". I guess the name is kind of a joke. That left me with a bad taste in my mouth, well, the coffee did too I guess, but if I'm in the area and need some breakfast I'll probably be forgiving since like I said, this is Prior Lake and if it's not McDonalds or Perkins or some other chain that's a win.

Excellent lunch menu. The giant burger and chicken wrap was paired nicely with chips and salsa; priced just right. The food was excellent. Best kept secret in Prior Lake.

This is a really solid restaurant, especially for Prior Lake. Everything I've ordered there has been good. I ESPECIALLY recommend their onion rings! The ambiance is nice - nothing fancy, but not a dive. Just relaxing. The people are usually nice. Sometimes menu items and specials run out, but that's just how it goes when you're making things in-house instead of reheating things from the freezer. The only thing I can really complain about is that it always seems slow. No matter how many people are around, I always expect to wait a good amount of time for everything. Maybe this is because they make up all of their menu items in house, or maybe they just have a no-rush attitude. I'm not sure. But either way, if you have time to sit and relax and enjoy a slow dining experience, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Nice spot to hang in a pleasant environment. However the service was slow and they were out of food? Tried to order soup.

Hubby and I stopped in this new restaurant yesterday in Prior Lake. Don't let the name fool you, it's not just an indie coffee house-although they do have excellent coffee served in generous, hand turned mugs. Nice touch! The menu boards were just being installed when we stopped in yesterday, and the owner informed us it was the soft opening. Monday will be the promoted grand opening. The menu was surprisingly diverse and creative and making a selection was difficult. My husband likes to help small businesses in any way that he can, so he ordered the rib appetizer, and a Java Burger-a patty seasoned with ground coffee beans and other spices. I opted for the portabella burger with roasted red pepper, provolone and pesto. I had to get the hand cut fries, too. Rather than serving fountain drinks, they serve aluminum bottles of Coke products, as well as some drinks from the Naked juice line. Added bonus-they also have Coke in a bottle made with cane sugar! Sharp decor with original artwork from local artists on the walls. Don't miss the creative touches in the ceiling-including the amusing Mother Earth installation. Ribs came out first. Sweet, fall off the bone tender, with a side of dipping sauce. Very good. Our entrees came out piping hot. As I've indicated in previous reviews, my husband is not easy to impress when it comes to restaurants. "Pretty good" is a strong review for him. After a few bites, he declared his choice the "best burger I've ever had in my life." Well. I almost fell off my barstool. Because we're that kind of couple, I asked him for a bite. I concur. That was an awesome burger! At the risk of sounding sycophantic in my praise, my portabella burger was also...the best I've ever had. The french fries were perfect, and maybe this is a little TMI, the sandwich juices added an extra kick of flavor to the potatoes that was amazing. You could get away with splitting a sandwich here, the portions are very generous. There was a nice breakfast menu, and we snagged two desserts to go. A rocky road bar and a monster cookie. Decadent and very fresh. I saved half of the rocky road bar for my daughter who declared it "amazing!" The owner indicated that a beer and wine license is in the future. That's where I see this restaurant thriving and really taking off. I'd love to have a glass of wine with some of their upscale appetizers like fried crab wontons and mushroom artichoke croustades. It's the perfect intimate setting. Granted, the strip mall location isn't where you normally expect to find this kind of atmosphere, but once you cross the threshold, it works.

Stopped by with my wife the other day, service was excellent and the food was very good. My wife had the tacos and I went with the java burger. I can't say I could taste the coffee in the burger, but it burger was cooked perfect and the bun was delicious. The pita chips that came with the burger were excellent as well. Our favorite was my wife's tacos. They were in a fresh shell and perfectly seasoned.

High quality food in a local artistic atmosphere. Stopped by for lunch one day and had the best cobb salad I've ever had. Very fresh produce. Service was great and staff was friendly. Unexpected good food for small place in a strip mall. Excited to stop back soon!

The pork chop was literally the best I have ever tasted! Even better than my mom's. Excellent Mahi Mahi tacos. My brother raved about his peanut butter bacon hamberger. Great 2 for 1 draft craft draft beers. During my week visiting, this place was the best. I will be back!

I had the turkey panini, with chips and salsa... It was amazing. There was actual turkey, and homemade guacomole. The tomato was cooked and seasoned just right. And Ben's salsa was delicious!! Great atmosphere, from the seating area all the way to the cozy bathroom. Im extremely impressed and encourage everyone to go!!

Last night, my wife had had enough of being frozen during Prior Lakes homecoming game, and we stopped for a hot chocolate and a Skippy Burger - a peanut butter hamburger. It came perfectly made with cheese and bacon; and was delicious! The chips and homemade salsa was a great touch and and a welcome divergence from traditional fries. Highly suggest trying the unexpected!

Food is great, breakfast, lunch or dinner it doesn't matter!! Breakfast burritos & stuffed french toast are amazing for breakfast! And don't forget a mocha cinnamon latte. The jiffy burger, Cobb salad & portobello sandwich are my faves for lunch/dinner. We are officially regulars- south metro gem!

Stopped in last night for dinner and was blown away! Had the Monterrey Burger, sans jalapenos, that came with homemade chips and salsa. Truly awesome burger with great flavor, fabulous bun, and nice atmosphere. Can't wait to try more of the impressive menu.

I visited Artisan for lunch one day after seeing the good reviews here and taking a look at the intriguing menu online. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and my friend ordered the turkey panini. The tacos were served on fried flour tortillas, although I'm not sure what type of tortilla since the texture was very flaky? I'm not a huge fan of fried flour tortillas, so I'm not holding that against Artisan when the rest of the tacos were delicious! I love the sauce on the fish and the cabbage and mango salsa were very fresh and full of flavor. My friend said her panini was very good but she didn't really go into much more than that! Both meals were served with chips and salsa. The chips seemed to be made fresh there and of the same ingredient as my taco shells. They were absorbant and didn't really work exceptionally well with the salsa. The salsa was decent with little heat but pretty good flavor. We both agreed that black olives have no place in salsa! Overall I think it was a good lunch but not sure if I'd seek it out again, although I hear the happy hour is great!

Just got back from lunch and wow am I impressed. I also had the Cajun Chicken sandwich. EXCELLENT!!! And the chips they serve with it are out of this world. My coworkers had the Salmon "burger" and Turkini--all of which was raved about as well. We will be back often

Based on the first review my husband and I decided to stop in for a late lunch. I had a good idea on what to expect based from original reveiw. It is a very quaint and soothing bistro. We decided to have crab puffs as an appetizer and I ordered the Monterrey burger and my husband ordered the Beefini. The crab puffs were good with just the right amount of filling. I'm not a whole seafood lover but would definitely recommend to someone who is. The monterrey burger was absolutely fabulous. My husband loved the beefini. What we both loved was the homemade chips and salsa. The chips were fried flour tortilla shells and the salsa was fresh with just the right amount of spice. The owner said they are in the process of obtaining a liquor license so they can offer beer and wine which would help with the evening crowd. I can't wait to go back and try the breakfast menu which is served until 11am. The coffee menu also looks enticing. It definitely worth the drive for some good food and an quaint atomsphere.
